Trivia

  • The release of the game was revealed on April 15th, 2020 to be unauthorized by the company due to its poor quality performance and release for the PS4, both of which were against Office Create's intentions. As of now, Office Create has terminated Planet Digital Partners' license and is evaluating legal action against the latter in order to protect their IP rights, customers, and the Cooking Mama series.[1]
  • This is the first game not to be developed by Office Create, who are putting all of their efforts into Cooking Mama: Let's Cook!. However, Office Create is still credited with being involved in the development of Cooking Mama: Cookstar.
  • Prior to its official announcement, the title was leaked on a German site.[2] [3] [4]
  • This is both the first game in the series released on the Nintendo Switch and the first game not to be a Nintendo-exclusive outside of Cooking Mama: Let's Cook!.
  • Cooking Mama: Cookstar marks the return of the Cooking Mama franchise after five years of hiatus.
  • The game was briefly on the Nintendo eShop, but was pulled off due a premature release according to developers[5] [6]. However, digital and physical copies of the game have been pulled from sale indefinitely by Office Create. Currently the game has yet to be back on sale.
  • A PlayStation 4 release was planned and advertised by Planet Digital Partners, but it was revealed to have been unauthorized by Office Create. It is unlikely that it would be released, due to Cooking Mama mainly staying on Nintendo consoles for over a decade. The release, however, was uncancelled by Raven's Court and was released in 2021, ignoring Office Create's wishes of not wanting a Mama game on a different console.
